Marty Casado is one of the owners of this website and has been meddling with web development in Belize from the early introduction of internet to this country. 


According to Marty Casado, AmbergrisCaye.com is the most visited website in Belize, and they are proud to represent San Pedro and Belize on the internet, with 10-15,000 individual viewers per day.

In Belize, there is no shortage of local events and if any traveller desires to fit in perfectly, they must pass the Eat like a Belize local test. Do you think you can pass it?

Every year, La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge takes place for four days  and this year, the canoes left San Ignacio early Friday morning on March 4th and arrived in Belize City on Monday March 7th to commemorate Baron Bliss Day which is on March 9th.

 Let’s fast-forward to Belize’s unique appeal to U.S. retirees: It's the only south-of-the-border country whose official language is English. Until 1973 it was called British Honduras, and was a crown colony of the U.K.; it was granted full independence in 1981 (although Queen Elizabeth II is still head of state).
 Another goodie: It’s catching up to Panama and Costa Rica's retiree perks. Its Qualified Retired Persons program, known as the QRP, offers benefits and a fast track to residency status.

Poem: The Vocabulary Toolbox

I usually try to blog twice a month but as usual, I am pressed for time and can't find the opportunity to write as much as I desire. Luckily, a fellow Chaa Creek colleague shared his poem with me and I was extremely impressed with the message behind it. I wish I could provide more background knowledge on the poem but I have no clue what inspired him to write the vocabulary toolbox and if I was a better blogger, I should have ensured to have that answer – sorry.

To go, ketchup & peppa! No Independent Belize Media

Today I am going to be comparing media houses. First I must say that in my regard, Belize has no independent media – such a tragedy. They either are UDP or PUP or proudly PUDP.

The issue of partiality affects Belize greatly because information or the lack of information is what directly elects politicians in our country, or should I say, Worldwide. On the 26 of November I read the article on Channel5belize.com titled Bank zeros in on Luke Espat. Before they broke the news, one sentence says: “[...] the signs of a bad economy have been hitting individual businesses very hard over the past year.” Of course this is true but my concern is why do they sugar coat the message?

Prediction time again..

Museum of Drugs - Mexico City

It is not secret that Belize's strategic position as the bridge to North America has always been a prime location for drug smugglers as they move to their central locations in Northern Mexico. But as the US Govt. and Mexican Federales continue to crack down on the cartels, they are going to continue being pushed down more and more.. unfortunately resulting in Belize becoming one of their retreats. This is something that should already be on the discussion board for the GoB because when it hits, it will hit hard and 'silly' unprepared BDF or the Police won't be able to do anything! Just imagine, the US & MX Govt. can hardly put up a good fight with the Narcos, how will our untrained, unequipped officers?
